 You can now make FREE SIP calls over our VoIP service. Just go to Make a VoIP call and enter the SIP number you wish to call.

Our FREE US calling service is temporarily out of action pending a software upgrade but should be operational again in the near future.

The service routes through various providers depending on your call destination and we believe will offer our customers value for money.  We have introduced a Voice over IP (VoIP) service today. To use the service please log in and go to Services and Make a SIP call. You will need to have a headset with microphone connected to your computer to use the service. You can check call rates on page before you make a call. Call charges will be debited to your account. We will be introducing a callback service shortly for those of you who do not wish to be tied to a computer or use headsets. You will be able to use the service from your pc or from your mobile.

 It seems unlikely that we will be able to reach a satisfactory agreement with one of our potential suppliers in the near future. We will therefore be going foreword with a pence per minute (ppm) offering. This will not be as economically attractive as the original 30p fixed charge for up to one hour for many users. However, the pricing will be competitive. We will publish more details on the website soon.

 We have been advised by one of our major suppliers that they will be suspending their current service from the 10th October 2008 so that they can merge their existing operation with another company they have recently purchased.
The new services will not be available until December 2008.
This will have a major impact on the services we provide you and we will therefore be suspending our voice services from that same date. A full refund of any outstanding credit will be made to all customers who request it.
We will be working hard in October and November to develop a new service for availability to our users in December 2008.

 New Balance Checking Service

 Following a request from one of our users we have introduced a new credit balance checking service.
You can now check your HappyTalk credit balance from your mobile phone.
All you have to do is compose a text +happyt bal and send it to your HappyTalk message number (+447781481795 or +447781481798 for the UK). Please note the space between +happyt and bal. Users from outside the UK should check here for their best number to send the message to.
Once you have sent the message our system will check your credit balance and send a message back to you with your credit balance.
There is a small charge of 2 credits for using this service. We hope you find this new service useful and we would appreciate any comments you may have.

 Voice service congestion

 Our Service Provider is experiencing intermittent connectivity issues with the network and is investigating. This is causing a degredation in call completion rates. You may receive the following error when you try and make a call: "Call discarded". These calls will not be charged. Some calls are passing successfully so site status remains at Amber.

 Capacity constraints

 Our network supplier reports they are currently experiencing problems affecting voice calls. They have switched to backup PSTN capacity and most calls should now be getting through. They are working to resolve the root cause of the problem and hope to have service back to full capacity shortly.

 PSTN capacity issues

 Our suppliers report they have some capacity constraints on the PSTN network and this is causing poor call completion rates. They are investigating. Calls on the available capacity are passing through successfully.

 Sending messages

 We have noticed that users trying to send messages with more than 3 consecutive numbers in their username are receiving errors. We have therefore disabled usernames being placed in the From element of the SMS message. The default setting will now be HappyTalk but you can change this if you wish. If you change it whatever you put in the From box must not have more than 3 consecutive numbers in it and no more than 11 characters. This is to prevent spoofing of mobile numbers. You cannot put your mobile number in the From box.

 Call connection update

 We have been undertaking some analysis of call statistics over the last 10 days and can report that call completion rates have improved from less than 30% to more than 60%.

 Call connection issues update

 We have now heard back from our service provider and they stress that they are activly trying to determine the cause for the inconsistent service we see at times. They are undertaking further diagnostic tests at the end of the week and also considering the possibility of using alternative PSTN (public switched telephony network) providers in the hope that the overall service level will improve. We will keep you updated of any progress.

 We are still investigating this problem with our service provider. They are analysing call records to try and determine why calls are not always connecting satisfactorily.  New Message Service Provider

 In order to improve our global coverage and customer experience we are now using a new text message service provider. Old and new services will run in parallel up to and including the 20th May 2008. For most users this change will have little or no impact. However, those customers that use our HappyMob service will now be able to text call requests from their mobile phones to a number of gateway numbers. Just pick the number that is nearest to you as that will probably be the cheapest. ALL HappyMob users should go here for more details on how to compose your text message and new gateway numbers.

 Ringing tone

 The lack of ringing tone being sent back to the caller when the callee is called has now been rectified by our supplier and all callers should now hear ring tone whilst the called party is being rung.
